In a perfect world, Dear Euphoria (named Elina Johansson, in real life) would be a famous Swedish artist. Maybe not as famous as ABBA, but at least as well known as The Cardigans' Nina Persson. Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world – you knew that already if you listened to the Paris Hilton record – and Dear Euphoria is still unsigned.

Even if only few Swedes know her, Dear Euphoria's music could be loved by anyone. Anyone with a heart and a soul at least. ”For Everything of Worth”, her first and only record, is a must-buy record for broken hearts: this is the kind of music you want to listen to in order to be depressed when you are already quite sad. The kind of album every teenager could play in the darkness of her/his bedroom. The perfect record for long dark Swedish winters

It reminds of Stina Nordenstam for the shyness, and Tori Amos for the purity of the voice. When Elina complains on ”Something Great” I am petrified that I don't know how to give myself, you guess she really means it and when her ethereal little voice cries I was closed to love, one day on her song ”Oh the Softness”, you can actually hear her heart cracking if you listen carefully. To sum it up: emotional at its best.

Self produced, ”For Everything of Worth” sounds unusually raw. There might be a tactful piano in the background and maybe some other instruments somewhere, but eventually the listener only focuses on the beauty of Elina's voice. This is what matters.

It is impossible to know if Dear Euphoria will have to stop making music or if she will finally meet success. One could be pessimistic: released in 2005, her record has not yet met the audience it deserves. But it is not too late. It is up to you. This is the kind of music which could save your life.

Ahh, rätt OK skrivet ändå. OK, lite löjligt, men lite fint också. En klyscha då och då skadar inte.

Helt underbart, livet är fyllt av klyschor, jag tycker det känns äkta å sött. Inom genren så håller det helt klart.
